YOUTH FOR CHANGE
The proposed project involves the organization of professional-technical workshops at the Banja Luka College (BLC) within the Department of Graphic Design and Visual Communication and the Faculty of Information Technologies of the University of Džemal Bijedić in Mostar (FIT). Each workshop will last two days. In Banja Luka , participants will learn how to create and prepare photos and video materials, and how to develop a multimedia project. In Mostar , participants will learn how to create free websites using WordPress. As part of the project, in a workshop organized in Sarajevo at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sarajevo (EFS), participants will learn how to develop a project, and how to collect funds for civic projects, and will have the opportunity to learn about investigative journalism.
The proposed activities are based on the existing needs of young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to communicate across ethnic lines. Opportunities for young people to meet other young people from different cities, ethnic and cultural backgrounds in BiH are extremely limited, which further contributes to tensions related to ethnicity, even among young people. In addition, the vast majority of young people in BiH do not have the opportunity to show their ideas, talents, and passion for civic and political life.
In order to meet the challenges and use the existing opportunities, this project aims to encourage inter-ethnic understanding and cooperation, educational achievements, training and civic engagement of young people - students and high school students - through the use of information and communication technologies with an emphasis on new media.
THE PROJECT
Workshop participants will have the opportunity to gain knowledge through the use of new media for the purpose of social engagement. After the workshops, the participants will have the opportunity to realize their ideas and implement several initiatives by the end of August/September in order to develop civic activism among young people through group projects and with the help of experts as mentors.
The first workshop will be held in Sarajevo in the period from April 2 to April 3, 2016. year, where pupils and students will learn how to develop a project, and how to collect funds for civic projects, and will have the opportunity to learn about investigative journalism.
The second workshop will be held in Banja Luka in the period from April 9, 2016. until 10.04.2016. years. At these workshops, participants will learn how to create, prepare photos and video materials, and how to develop a multimedia project.
The third workshop will be held in Mostar in the period from April 22, 2016. until 23.04.2016. years. Attendees will learn how to create free websites using WordPress.
The workshops will be held in the premises of the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo (EFS), the premises of Banja Luka College (BLC) in Banja Luka and the Faculty of Information Technologies of Džemal Bijedić University in Mostar (FIT). Participants will have the opportunity to work with the latest technology during the workshops.
Also, we must mention that the participants will get to know the social life of the three leading cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and will make contacts with representatives of several youth organizations and public institutions. All participants who successfully complete the workshops will receive a certificate.
