Erasmus Charter in Higher Education
The Erasmus Charter in Higher Education (ECHE) serves higher education institutions as a general qualitative framework for European and international cooperation activities that these institutions can implement as part of the Erasmus+ program.
The award of the ECHE is a prerequisite for all higher education institutions that wish to participate in mobility for the purpose of individual learning and/or cooperation in order to achieve innovation and good practice within the Erasmus+ program.
The principles of ECHE have been adapted according to the new emphases of the Erasmus+ program for the period 2021-2027, such as digitalisation, inclusion and sustainability. Some of the most important innovations are the determination to reach underrepresented groups in mobility through inclusion strategies, the application of green practices in the organization of Erasmus+ program activities, the implementation of digitalization through the European Student Card initiative and the Erasmus+ mobile application, as well as the determination to increase civic activism of mobile students.
In addition, higher education institutions are required to fulfill the ECTS automatic mutual recognition requirements to ensure fully automatic recognition of study periods abroad in the fastest possible way.
