Four-year study
The lack of well-educated young journalists, as well as public relations experts, who could quickly find their way on the labor market immediately after graduation and be actively involved in media events and work in the media, is the main reason for starting this direction. The study of journalism is conceived as a modern and dynamic educational program, aimed at acquiring knowledge and skills applicable in everyday media practice.
In the four-year Media and Communications study, there are two majors : Public Relations and Journalism and Multimedia. The modern concept of media studies implies a continuous and synchronized study of theoretical and practical aspects, with a special emphasis on new media, which are slowly taking over the function of traditional ones. Depending on the chosen direction, the student encounters different knowledge in the field of media and communication - media management, radio and television, media culture, media project management, journalism, media marketing, new media and multimedia, photography, as well as other subjects. – IT, business IT, foreign languages, etc.
The majors are intended for the training of competent media experts who will adopt the basic principles for working in the media, multidisciplinary knowledge in the fields of politics, economy, culture and other social fields, practical and theoretical knowledge in media policy and media development. During their studies, students will develop the culture and ethics of media communication, learn in detail about investigative journalism, information sources, media editing and management.
In addition to theoretical knowledge, future journalists and media experts on these courses are provided with continuous interaction with media practice on BLC radio, which broadcasts the program online, but also in the College magazine, which will be introduced to them by lecturers at the study, renowned experts in their field, and practitioners from areas of media and communications.
The modern era of knowledge and digital communications is shaped and permeated by media in all aspects of human activity. As the connective tissue of society, with its informational and educational function, the media have become an inseparable part of everyday life, shaping our reality and perception of the world. Often, the progress of a certain society is measured by the professionalism and level of development of the media, and to create it, professionally specialized media professionals are needed.
The specificity of the courses Journalism and Multimedia and Public Relations is the orientation to practice and the acquisition of professional knowledge, and the result of this study concept is media experts educated in a real media environment and equipped with quality initial practical experiences. Graduated students are qualified to work in all branches of journalism and in public relations and perform all types of work on television, radio and the web, in newspapers and publishing houses and in all places where public relations experts are needed.
